There’s so much to do at Coniston Boating Centre, both on and off the water. The centre is half a mile from Coniston village, on the shores of Coniston Water. Parking available.

BOAT HIRE
Motor boats
Let our electric boats take the strain. Travel anywhere on the lake and enjoy one of the Lake District’s most beautiful stretches of water in peace and quiet.  Wheelchair accessible boat available.

Rowing boats
Or explore Coniston Water as Ruskin would have – some of our traditional rowing boats are over 100 years old! Seat up to six people.

Canoes
Paddle in one of our two types of canoes, open Canadian style canoe and sit on top canoes, these can carry from one to three people. The minimum hire time is 2 hrs. Instruction is available through several local organisations.

Sailing boats
If you can sail, why not hire one of our sailing dinghies? We’ve Toppers, Sport 16s, Wayfarers and a Hawk 20 – what better way to follow in the wake of Swallows and Amazons to explore Arthur Ransome’s Wild Cat Island and the secret harbour.
The minimum hire time is 2 hrs.

SAILING LESSONS
Want to learn to sail or brush up your skills? We are a Royal Yachting Association Training Centre, running courses throughout the year. Groups, families, couples and individuals are all welcome.

BOAT LAUNCHING AND STORAGE
Boat launching at Coniston couldn’t be easier and for those less confident there is a tractor to do the job for you.  Boat storage is available for any type of boat up to 26ft, from one night to all year round.
Limited short term wet storage is also available.
Boat maintenance, cleaning and repairs are available at the centre for both visiting boats and those in long term storage.
